Most people quit mentally long before they quit physically.
I’ve learned that progress doesn’t come from perfection; it comes from trying again.
Hi, I’m Dr. Barry S. Ricoma—a military veteran, father, international best-selling author, and speaker. My life and work are rooted in discipline, service, and the long view of growth, earned through experience, not shortcuts.
For over 29 years, I operated in high-stakes environments as a veteran, where accountability wasn’t optional and failure had real consequences. That foundation shaped how I think about leadership, responsibility, and resilience, long before I ever stepped on a stage or wrote a book. But titles don’t tell the full story.
I’m not just a motorcycle adventurer or world traveler. Not just an author. Not just a speaker. Those roles together reflect a single pursuit, which is becoming a better version of myself through healing, learning, self-awareness, and helping others do the same.
My work follows a simple progression:
– Healing: acknowledging what shaped us
– Hope: creating space for others to see themselves in the journey
– Commitment: learning, applying, and growing together
– Impact: books, conversations, and stages that move people forward
My personal mantra guides everything I do: “Trying is NOT failing! Quitting is failing, and giving up after quitting is the ultimate failure. But trying? That is the forward progression toward YOUR success! Each attempt, whether triumphant or challenging, is a testament to your courage and determination. Embrace the act of trying, for it is in the struggle and the effort that our true potential is revealed. So, stand firm, keep trying, and watch as each step unfolds the path to greatness!” — Dr. Barry S. Ricoma
If my work resonates, you’ll usually find people doing one of two things:
• Reading my books
• Inviting me to speak where honesty, growth, and resilience actually matter I’m always open to meaningful conversations and aligned collaborations.
